I have never seen this happen before, but when I imported one of the Texas Star Party observing lists (.stx file), all of the Rise/Transit/Set and Begin/Best/End times are all wrong. They are not even close. I have checked my location settings, time zone, etc., but I must be missing something here. Most of the Begin/Best/End times are all during the day. Any idea what is causing this? I have SkyTools 4 Visual Standard.
Hello,
I'm not really sure what I'm looking at. There is definitely a problem with the location, as the sun is high in the sky at midnight (see the Nightbar at the top, yellow dashed line). But you have it set to the Texas Star Party location, which is known to have the correct settings.
It may be this will go away after you close and open again. If not, try a different location. If the problem persists, please send a screen capture of your location data.
Hi Kelly,
Where did you find this Observing List? If you like I can download it & see if I can duplicate the issue. This may help Greg figure out if where the trouble lies. The TSP location comes with ST4v so it should be accurate.
Phil S.
Its not an issue with the list! The list can't effect the Nightbar.
Hi Greg,
I wouldn't think so, but thought that you might like another ST4v user to try it out & see what happens. Is the list in question available from the Skyhound website? I won't do anything unless you want me to.
Having the sun up at midnight is definitely not right. I wonder if this is Kelley's only OL that has this issue.

Your help is appreciated, but in this case all that needs to happen is for him to try what I suggested.
Oh my goodness! Sorry everyone. I just got a new laptop, so I was trying to move all of my settings over. These old eyes of mine are having trouble with the small laptop screen, and I completely missed one tiny detail on my location: W not E. Voila! It is fine now. It was not the observing list. It was the observer. (Where's the embarrassed emoji?) Thanks everyone! Very excited to be going to my 14th Texas Star Party next week and to be in dark skies again. Clear skies to all!
Hi Kelley,
I'm glad you found the problem. I find the 'Blush' emoji
works well when I do something like this (which I have all too often
).
Have a great time at the TSP, I wish I could join you. Observe some faint stuff for me.
