The iTelescope system is adding a new widefield system - T80 - in Spain. The objective is another 135 mm Samyang camera lens similar to their system in Chile. I don't know how much they'll be charging to use this system. Hopefully this system will be more usable than the one in Chile.

Hi Phil,

I'm reallly looking forward to this one, but given the state of some of their other new systems, I'm not holding my breath. If you hear its come on line for sure, please let us know.

I plan to attend the webinar. I received an email about it from them today. I think the T70 system in Chile is overpriced. I guess you're paying for the site.

Have you used their telescopes yet Phil? I was interested, but when the price was converted to NZD, it looked more like a phone number. I would need pretty exceptional 4rsults to make it worth it.

Yes, I've used the iTelescopes several times. I really liked T68 because it has a one-shot color camera, but they made it free so it's hard to schedule time on the system. I can't seem to get the hang of the LRGB processing to get decent results. I've attended several webinars, but the instructions don't stick too well.

When I try to capture MPs I don't expose long enough to get the things  .

I should work at it harder. ST4 Imaging makes using their systems much easier.

I attended the webinar on 2022 Aug 5.

Dr. Sasse of iTelescopes showed some images from T80 located at the new site in Spain. As noted above this system is a 135 mm camera lens-based system with a wide field. It looks like a nice system.

Dr. Sasse also said that the plans for the T40 system on LaPalma are dead as that scope is located in a dome. He said that domes & remote users don't play well together. They haven't been able to control a dome remotely. RORO roofs are much simpler to control & are preferred.

They're planning more scopes in Chile because of the weather, but the communications problems may render any weather improvements moot IMHO. Maybe the demand for T70 is just very great.

I was really looking forward to T40, so that's bad news. A site with good weather and good internet would be great!

I have a preliminary T80 setup and am testing it today, if everything works. As usual, they didn't specify something critical so I have to ask. I'll need to know the widths of the narrow band filters.

The scope info says the lens is working at f/2.8 at the top of the page & f/3.5 at the bottom of the page (as is T70). Dr. Sasse said that T80 is working as an f/2.8 system in his presentation. These guys need someone to do some proofreading of their stuff .

The internet connectivity in Chile has been a joke whenever I've checked.

It would be nice if they'd get what they have working properly & then add the new stuff.

I wonder if they will decide to upgrade to the new multi mirror telescopes (based on DWST) I was reading about. I imagine the price will skyrocket, but can expect some amazing photos from there.
