I really like the functionality of having an obstructed horizon file. As I start using ST4 to plan observations from other sites, I'm wondering if each site can have its own horizon file. Likely this has been discussed somewhere, but i can't find it.
If not, I guess a workaround could be to create a home_horizon.txt, darksite_horizon.txt, vacation_horizon.txt, etc. and then copy one to horizon.txt depending on where one is.
As I understand the Obstructed Horizon function, each Location can have its own obstructed horizon defined. All you need to do is follow the instructions in the 'Help' to define the obstructed horizon at each of your locations. ST4 should save the information for each Location.
There may be a YouTube video on this topic as well.
Hope this helps,
Phil S.
This is something I have been thinking about lately myself. I will likely end up allowing multiple horizons for the same location, but for the time being there is only the one. As Phil suggested, another approach is to create multiple locations, each with its own horizon data. It is fairly easy to switch between locations in the various tools. That's the workaround I suggest. But you should offset each location by a little so they aren't all at the exact same lat/lon because sometimes SkyTools looks at the lat/lon to determine if the location has changed. One thing you could do would be to use something like Google Earth to extract actual lat/lon values to use for the different locations around your home.
Thanks Phil & Greg. My sites are far enough apart that I can enter different lat/long coordinates, so this should be straightforward.
