T68 Color Camera - lewis - 2020-05-13

Hello
Which camera is on T68 (NM)?
Is it a ASI1600mc (like in ST4 Data) or a ASI071mc like on the description of itelescope?

Thanks
Ed

Hi Ed,

This would be a question for iTelescope. Perhaps they have upgraded the camera? I have asked them several times to keep me informed when they make a change, but it never lasts for more than a couple of weeks. They have recently hired some new staff, so maybe we can get them more on board with informing me. I am happy to keep their telescope data up to date, but I don't have the time to check every telescope every few days...

If you contact them, please nicely suggest that they keep me in the loop when equipment is changed.

Hi Greg
I had a contact with iTelescope, Dr. Sasse.
Result:
ZWO ASI 071MC-Pro
Sky Position angle: 95.9°

Thanks Greg

Thanks. I have the camera set up, bit I am waiting to hear from Dr Sasse regarding the gain and offset selections they are using.

RE: T68 Color Camera - lewis - 2020-05-15

    Hi Greg
I have received the data actually used for T68-A071 CMOS Camera:

Lowest Read Noise
Gain 240
Offset 65
USB Limit 80

This is a quite high gain with the result that the FWC drops to 3000 and the dynamic range loose 2 stops.
Check the FWC in the setup and replace it with this new value.
I think we can now use these figures for more accurate calculations.

Question: I have changed the gain data for the camera in the setup, lets say from 50 to 240, but in the fields of the exposure calculator there is no change. The exp time and the snr are the same.
Why is there no difference?
Ed

Thanks Ed. I will be uploading the new camera soon for download soon. If you didn't close the exposure calculator is was probably still using the old values. Try closing SkyTools and starting again, Does the exposure calculator show the correct gains now?

RE: T68 Color Camera - lewis - 2020-05-20

Hi Greg
Calculator gain change: Sorry I have made a mistake in the setup of the zwo asi camera / Now all is OK and the calculator runs fine !

T68:
Dr. Sasse has confirmed me that
1. The angle will change in the next days
2. After my question for a actual summary of all running setups in iTel, he tells me that in the next 2 weeks he will do such a summary.
3. He will be in contact with you (I wrote him that ST4 is the only SW which gives great support to iTel and its the only one which takes the whole bunch of variables to calculate the exposure times .... this is a time and money saver Rolleyes ..)

OK, if I can help further, please tell me.
Thanks
Ed

Hi Ed,

Thanks for all this! He's actually waiting to hear back from me right now... I have way too much on my plate at the moment. I will get back to him asap and hopefully, with your encouragement, we can come up with a good way to keep me in the loop on these changes. Ironically, one of the things that has me behind this week is that I did an introductory talk about iTelescope for the Portland club on Monday night.

RE: T68 Color Camera - theskyhound - 2020-05-21

Hi Ed,

I wanted to do some simple calibration images with T68 before I released the new version, but I ran into an issue. My definition for this scope before it moved had an autoguider. When I started my plan, it just gave an autoguider error over and over. When the next plan started (from another user) I noticed that he wasn't using the autoguider. Looking at the telescope info, it lists the autoguider as "Simulator." Do you have any idea what this is all about?

RE: T68 Color Camera - theskyhound - 2020-05-30

I took some images recently and am satisfied with my updates for T68. A new update to this iTelescope is now available. Note that this is T68 (NM) to differentiate it from the previous system located at SSO.
