2013 BO76 for the Southern hemisphere - PMSchu - 2022-03-18
The MP 2013 BO76 is predicted to make a close approach best visible from the southern hemisphere in the next few days. According to ST4v the current predicted position is in Centaurus at 15.8 magnitude. Peak brightness is predicted to occur around 2022 Mar 22 0300 EDT, but that's in daylight for Australia. It's predicted to be 16th magnitude or brighter from Mar 18 - 25.

Might be a struggle to see that one though. Is there a good filter for helping find them?

I forgot to mention that the peak brightness is estimated to be 15.6 magnitude on Mar 22. It'll be reflecting sunlight, but I don't know what color it is. Perhaps a green filter would improve the contrast. Just guessing though. If you have a contrast enhancing filter, try it out on a bright MP to see if it helps or not. Perhaps one in Libra or Scorpius.
The bright moon will interfere.

Our moon at present makes going outside pointless. If it were any brighter, we would need to put sunscreen on to go outside...
I will try the green filter (if I can find one) and a few of the others and and let you know.

While the moon is bright, increasing the magnification should reduce the sky background & improve contrast. A point source, like a MP or star will be easier to detect at increased magnification. ST4v should show the best EP to use. For stellar objects that's frequently the highest magnification.
Even with the moon, you may spot it with enough magnification.
