Mutual Events of Galilean Satellites - bigmasterdrago - 2026-06-08 I've not yet found a method to predict these in the Event Finder. Years ago I used Occcult for this but no longer. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Kenneth Drake RE: Mutual Events of Galilean Satellites - PMSchu - 2026-06-10 Hi BMD, I don't think that SkyTools 4 supports events between the Galilean satellites. It only supports transits, shadow transits, eclipses and occultations between a satellite and Jupiter itself. I checked SkyTools 3 and it works the same way. Since I no longer have SkyTools 2 installed on the computer, I can't try that one. Perhaps the Skyhound can provide more information. Phil S. RE: Mutual Events of Galilean Satellites - PMSchu - 2026-06-11 Predictions of mutual events would be very interesting. Does anyone else do that? FYI the "transit" in "shadow transit" is misspelled missing the "r" in the "Event Finder" dialog. The screen shot of the dialog in the Help also has the same misspelling. Something for a future update . It was like that in SkyTools 3 too, so not a big deal.Phil S. (shakes head) RE: Mutual Events of Galilean Satellites - bigmasterdrago - 2026-06-12 Thanks Phil and "Head Dude". I looked all over as the software is so complete, I thought I was just missing it. We're coming up on the season for these events (late Summer) after Jupiter enters the morning sky. They are fun to hunt down and with the not so great skies the last two years, makes for stuff to chase. I have a problem simulating one a few days ago. I'll post that in another page. Kenneth Drake RE: Mutual Events of Galilean Satellites - theskyhound - 2026-06-12 I think the reason I didn't do this a long time ago, back when I created the events features, was that the positions of the sats weren't calculated accurately enough. But they are much more accurate now, so its definitely something that needs to happen. RE: Mutual Events of Galilean Satellites - PMSchu - 2026-06-13 That would be an interesting feature. Phil S. |
