Skytools 4 - CMOS
#1
Hi,

New to the forum so apologies if this has been answered before.

I'm looking to purchase ST4 to aid in planning my imaging sessions. I've been reading that it is optimised for CCD cameras rather than CMOS (I have an ASI294). My question is, is this correct? Can ST$ be used with CMOS cameras or are the calculations out because it is optimised for CCD.

Regards,

Rene

Thank you for asking, because this is absolutely untrue. This rumor started when someone asked here about how SkyTools handles the differences in binning between the two types of cameras. I was honest and said I wasn't sure and that I would look into it. I did some testing and the SkyTools model for CMOS binning worked fine. So not only is this old news it was never news at all. Perhaps you can now set whomever told you this straight.
Clear skies,
Greg
