Obstructed Horizon
#1
I have a "block" regarding how to set up an Obstructed Horizon. I want 45 degrees between 0 and 179 and 15 degrees between 180 and 359. I tried the following but nope - I tried Help but ...

0 45
179 45
180 15
359 15

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hi PJ,

I added a few more points to your file. Give it a try. I looks like you might want to adjust the 0° & 180° points a bit or add some points closer tho those values to get a smoother transition fron 15° to 45° obstructed altitude.

Hope this helps,

Phil S.

Hi Phil,

I tried your txt file and it does not work. BTW, how do you change the color of the Obstructive Horizon as it's blue on blue background and it's almost impossible to see? Thanks.

OK, I figured it out - it works. THANKS

But open question - how do you change the color of the Obstructive Horizon as it's almost impossible to see?

Hello,

The obstructed horizon essentially replaces the "perfect" horizon, so they use the same properties: Chart Preferences --> Lines and Outlines Tab --> Horizon Line.

Try the following:

0 45
90 45
180 45
181 15
270 15
359 15

The lines at the N and S are not going to be perfectly straight because you can't have two altitudes for the same azimuth, but this should work fine.
Clear skies,
