It looks like Mars took one for the team in December 2021. There was a Mars quake & they just found the crater from the impact.

I guess they wont have to drill so deep for water now that the asteroid has done half the work for them...

Yep, the impact blasted some chunks of ice onto the surface. It also shows that there's ice beneath the surface, so water where we didn't know that it existed. Elon will be pleased.
