Close Approach of 2022 TN1
#1
CNEOS predicts that the NEO 2022 TN1 will make a close approach on 2024-Apr-30 23:57 ± < 00:01 UT at a distance of 0.04766 AU. It's already 15.2 magnitude in Virgo.

I'll try to provide more information later today.

Good hunting,

Here's the promised update for the close approach of 2022 TN1.

CNEOS predicts that this medium-sized NEO will make a close approach on 2024-Apr-30 23:57±<00:01 UT at a distance of 0.04766 AU moving with V Relative=17.74 km/sec, H=20.3 magnitude, diameter 230 m - 520 m and 'Rarity'=1. There is a 1291 day observation arc, the Condition Code=1 and the Earth MOID=0.0423882 AU. The solution date was 2024-Apr-28 05:48:11 PDT. This orbit is well defined.

Using MPC's elements for the epoch 2024 Apr 28 0000 UT, ST4v predicts that this NEO will reach a maximum brightness of 15 magnitude on 2024 Apr 30 0000 EDT when the NEO will be 0.05 AU distant traveling through Corvus at 30"/minute. Close approach (to the nearest hour) is predicted to occur on 2024 Apr 30 2000 EDT when the MP will be in Corvus at 0.05 AU distance and 15.2 magnitude traveling at 31.2"/minute in daylight as seen from Columbus, Ohio.

Here's the Object Info dialog for this object:

Good hunting,
