Organize/browse logs by year
#1
Hello,

I have imported and still importing mostly by copy and paste from word processor documents logs from my visual observations (25+ years). That means that the search by night bar on the log browser is very full and I have to scroll all the way to the left every time I have to check or edit a recent observation. Will be nice to have a way to browse by year having the most recent one as default. Or have to type of subfolder structure (not in the actual database) I mean when we browse it.

Hope to see it soon.

Use the opportunity to thanks Greg for the quick implementation of import observation from other computer thought the log browser (recover option). And also the new features and improvements in the imaging version of SkyTools.

Regards,

Carles

Hello Carles,

Yes, this is a good idea- one I could use myself. Right now is the right time to make suggestions like this because it is being revamped. Its always easier to make changes to something I am already working on. Thanks for the suggestion!
Clear skies,
Greg

Perhaps you could let us know from time to time what you are doing in the code, so we can tune our ideas to that particular area?

I think this is a great idea. Actually, I'd like the ability to highlight any items on any of the tabs in the browser and then display the resulting observations that meet all highlighted criteria. This would likely require a bit more flexible display of the objects selected, perhaps with columns for the data represented by each of the selection tabs and ability to sort on them.

But I'm getting into too much detail in suggesting how to implement - what I'd like is the ability to search on a combination of the data on the tabs and be able to manipulate the resulting list (sort, export, print, etc.). I'm sure you can figure out the best way to do that.

Thanks for listening,
Jeff
