Pismis 1 / NGC 2568
#1
ver 4.0j R19 Pro

In the database, object Pismis 1 has only an OCL for a secondary name. It is also an NGC object, NGC 2568.

Here is a NED reference that shows it has the same coordinates as Pismis 1.

Please add NGC 2568 to Pismis 1.

Thanks,
Steve

Hello Steve,

I don't think that NED is a good source of definitive NGC designations, especially for galactic objects. I note that SIMBAD has nothing at all for NGC 2568, so I don't think this is a simple case. I'll make a note to look it up in the NGC/IC database. Unless someone would like to help me out and look it up for me. I try to stick with Corwin's results.

It looks like Corwin confirms the connection to Pismis 1.

Suggest adding the name NGC 2568 to the Pismis 1 object in the database, as they have the same coordinates according to the reference from NED. Thanks!

Steve has been bringing to my attention connections between objects for more years than I can count, so I gave him a very brief answer. But yes, of course the database will be updated the next time I am updating the databases.
