Hello Steve,
I don't think that NED is a good source of definitive NGC designations, especially for galactic objects. I note that SIMBAD has nothing at all for NGC 2568, so I don't think this is a simple case. I'll make a note to look it up in the NGC/IC database. Unless someone would like to help me out and look it up for me. I try to stick with Corwin's results.

It looks like Corwin confirms the connection to Pismis 1.

Steve has been bringing to my attention connections between objects for more years than I can count, so I gave him a very brief answer. But yes, of course the database will be updated the next time I am updating the databases.
