Adding User Objects to an Observing List

Hello All,

Christina LeGrand here.  Question, please.  I have just now found out about the Bootes Supervoid and the Cold Spot.  Obviously, I have been living under a rock.  I found coordinates for these two unbelievable phenomena, and would like to add them to an observing list.  I have tried to upload a text file and a csv file, but it is not working.   Does anyone have a txt / csv file I can use as an example?  I am trying to upload via Nightly Planner --> Get Observing List --> Read from Text File.

The import from a file feature is for objects that are already in the database (say, a list of NGC numbers you want to observe). Its primary purpose is to match objects to the database, and then create an observing list. 

What you want to do instead is to create Skymarks for each of them. A Skymark marks a location in the sky and consists of three things: RA, Dec, and a label. Once created they work like a special type of object in SkyTools. You can add them to an observing list, view them on a chart, etc. 

1. Start SkyTools
2. Click on Skymarks from the top level Data menu
3. Enter a name and position (leave the coordinate epoch blank in most cases)

Do this for both Skymarks. You can now look them up via the Designation Search like any other object. To see them on a chart, be sure to check the box next to Skymarks in the chart View Controls.
