Thumbs Down Exporting observing lists to Skysafari
Posted by: easywolf32 - 2025-04-02, 12:40 AM - Forum: How do I do it in SkyTools 4 Visual? - Replies (1)

AngryI've checked all over the internet and I cannot find one single logical explanation how to export to skysafari?

How does that even make sense? Ok Skytools 4, click on share/export list, export (funny thing is I've done this before, even see my files when I click on export skysafari) but than what?????????????????????????????????????

Do I plug my ipad in the pc and click on the folder and find the observing list???????????? What the **** does one do after? I went to skytools 4 entered skysafari not one damn help subject on this.

I remember seeing a video on this I believe, but nooooo, too complicated to have it ready available somewhere. This sucks man.

How to adjust list column widths in printouts?
Posted by: Spence - 2025-03-30, 09:19 PM - Forum: How do I do it in SkyTools 4 Visual? - Replies (9)

I can adjust the width of columns in an observing list, in the program, but the width of the printed columns looks to be unaffected. Landscape printing at the right edge of the paper gets truncated.

I tried exporting the list as a text file, but when I open it in Word, it does not show the list, as seen in the program. Instead, it shows some Object Information / Also known as data.

  Close Approach of 2025 BC10
Posted by: PMSchu - 2025-03-30, 07:16 PM - Forum: Observing Close Approaching Asteroids - No Replies

CNEOS predicts that the medium-sized NEO, 2025 BC10, will make a close approach on 2025-Apr-05 10:12±<00:01 UT at a distance of 0.02477 AU moving with V Relative=22.92 km/sec,  H=19.4 magnitude, diameter 360 m - 800 m and 'Rarity'=2. There is currently a 61 day observation arc, the Condition Code=5 and the Earth MOID=0.00482072 AU. The solution date was 2025-Mar-30 06:53:58 PDT.  Initial observation was on 2025 Jan 28 by Pan-STARRS 1, Haleakala. This object is on MPC's list of Potentially Hazardous Asteroids (PHAs) due to its size and Earth MOID, but this is the closest approach predicted for over 100 years.

Using MPC's orbital elements for 2025 Mar 30 0000 UT, ST4.1.11.14 Visual Pro predicts that this NEO will make its close approach (to the nearest hour) on 2025 Apr 5 0600 EDT (1000 UT) when the NEO will be estimated 14.5 magnitude traveling through Gemini at 75"/minute in morning twilight, but below the horizon in Columbus, Ohio. Peak brightness of 13.8 magnitude is predicted on April 3 2300 EDT with the NEO 0.03 AU distant traveling through Leo at 53"/minute. The evening of April 2 and morning of April 3 will be nearly as favorable. It's already 14.7 magnitude in Virgo.

Here's the Object Info dialog for 2025 BC10:

This bright NEO should put on quite a show for those able to observe it.

Good hunting,

Phil S.

  Close Approach of 2025 FR13
Posted by: PMSchu - 2025-03-29, 05:43 PM - Forum: Observing Close Approaching Asteroids - No Replies

CNEOS predicts that the newly discovered NEO, 2025 FR13, will make a close approach on 2025-Mar-30 11:42±<00:01 UT at a distance of 0.00891 AU moving with V Relative=16.34 km/sec, H=24.1 magnitude, diameter 41 m - 91 m and 'Rarity'=1. There is currently a 2 day observation arc, the Condition Code=7 and the Earth MOID=0.00796809 AU. The solution date was 2025-Mar-29 06:21:41 PDT. The initial reported observation was by ATLAS South Africa, Sutherland on 2025-03-26.

Here's the Object Info dialog for this NEO:

Good hunting,

Brand new beginner here with no experience with SkyTools. When I click the Night Filters box, the object list disappears. I've tried changing all the filters, but nothing brings back any objects.

  Close Approach of 2025 EF4
Posted by: PMSchu - 2025-03-13, 06:48 PM - Forum: Observing Close Approaching Asteroids - No Replies

CNEOS predicts that the newly discovered NEO, 2025 EF4, will make a close approach on 2025-Mar-15 09:53±00:02 UT at a distance of 0.00307 AU moving with V Relative=5.85 km/sec, H=24.8 magnitude, diameter 29 m - 65 m and 'Rarity'=2. There is currently a 2 day observation arc, the Condition Code=6 and the Earth MOID=0.00199508 AU. The solution date was 2025-Mar-13 05:47:31 PDT. The initial reported observation was by Santel Observatory, El Leoncito on 2025-03-11. This NEO is too small to make MPC's list of Potentially Hazardous Asteroids (PHAs). It made a close approach nearly this close back on 1965-Mar-16 at 0.00584 AU.

Using MPC's orbital elements for the epoch 2025 March 13 0000 UT, ST4.1.11.14 Pro predicts that 2025 EF4 will reach a peak brightness of 13.9 magnitude on 2025 March 15 at 0600 EDT at a distance of 466.5k km traveling through Cancer at ~150"/minute. This is also the close approach (to the nearest hour). This NEO should be visible from March 13-16 in a 13" telescope.

Here's the Object Info dialog for this NEO:

Since this will be a close pass, parallax will affect the predicted positions. For best accuracy observers should download orbital elements close to the time of close approach. See the post near the top of this section for the instructions to download elements for quickly changing orbits.

Good hunting,

Phil S.

  Close Approach of 2025 DU2
Posted by: PMSchu - 2025-02-27, 08:43 PM - Forum: Observing Close Approaching Asteroids - Replies (1)

CNEOS predicts that the newly-discovered NEO,2025 DU2 will make a close approach on 2025 March 5. Currently the Condition Code for this object is 8, so the orbit isn't very well defined. It's predicted to be best viewed from the southern hemisphere, but may be visible in a 13" telescope on the morning of March 5 in Virgo from Columbus, Ohio.

I'll post an update when the orbit is better defined.

  Close Approach of 2018 RC2
Posted by: PMSchu - 2025-02-27, 07:38 PM - Forum: Observing Close Approaching Asteroids - No Replies

CNEOS predicts that the medium-sized, Apollo-class NEO, 2018 RC2, will make a close approach on 2025-Mar-08 11:45±<00:01 UT at a distance of 0.00506 AU moving with V Relative=12.49 km/sec,  H=23.1 magnitude, diameter 64 m - 140 m and 'Rarity'=2. There is a 2365 day observation arc, the Condition Code=1 and the Earth MOID=0.00306707 AU. The solution date was 2025-Feb-27 05:16:24 PST. The initial reported observation was by Mt. Lemmon Survey on 2018-09-07. This object is too small to make the list of Potentially Hazardous Asteroids. It will make another close approach at approximately this distance on 2100 Mar 9.

Using MPC's elements for 2025 Feb 27 0000 UT, ST4.1.11.14 Visual Pro predicts that this NEO will reach a peak brightness of 13.6 magnitude on March 7 2200 EST when the NEO will be 855.9 k km distant, traveling through Cancer at 165"/minute. Close approach (to the nearest hour) is predicted on 2025 March 8 at 0700 EST with the NEO 759.4k km distant at 14 magnitude traveling through Monocerous at 197"/minute, but in daylight below the horizon in Columbus,Ohio. It's predicted to be brighter than 16th magnitude from March 5 in Ursa Major to March 8 in Caelum.

Here's the Object Info dialog for this object:

Since this NEO will pass very close, parallax will affect the apparent positions. To calculate the most accurate positions, download MPC's elements near the time of your observations or get elements from the HORZONS website.

Good hunting,

Phil S.
