Uninstalled then reinstalled the software. No change. Still can't create or view logs.
OK - maybe, in a way, problem solved! I'm back at the office today (where I did my observing Saturdy night). I have a larger (higher-res) monitor here. The Observation log screen appeared way off to the right - because that's where it was Saturday night. So in a way, mystery solved. But in another way, it seems like it would be ideal in some way to prompt a stray dialogue box to appear on the only (laptop) screen I had while not here at the office. I guess, for the time being, before shutting down here at work, I'll need to discipline myself to remember to drag all dialogue boxes back on top of the main operating window? Doesn't seem optimum - but I'm sure I'll remember to do that eventually. Thanks to you, Phil, for trying to brainstorm with me for a solution. It was, in some ways, super-simple. In other ways, unexpectedly challenging.
